what is UP!

been SUCH a long time since i wrote a blog post, have to apologize for that! :)

oi, i dont even KNOW where to begin.. such a lot of stuff happening at the moment. after the CP DVD project's production finished November last year i took some time off, had suchhhh an awesome vacation back home in Humansdorp (my happy place. for realz.) and really got some solid rest in ;) lugged a small version of my kit down there aswell, first time i practice back home since i left way back in 2004! was SUCH a crazy feeling. when i left there in 2004 to go off to college i owned a really beat-down silver tama imperialstar kit and a zildjian planet Z cymbal set (ALL cracked) and when i started unpacking the kit i took down home for the holidays, i hit WAY hard that even though i left home owning that beat downnnn kit, i'm now back here, 5 years later, with a kit that has my name on. and the sickest cymbals. and the sickest hardware. UNREAL feeling, such a crazy thing to experience. trying my best not to end this like an after-school special.. but it goes to show what's possible if you do what you love, and if you do it passionately.

the second thing that hit me way hard, is that it's because of YOU guys checking out the videos.. rating, commenting, joining the fan page, asking questions on formspring (inbox is at 400+.. can NOT get it below 300, haha), bought DVD's, shirts, hoodies.. posted topics on the forums, send emails. YOU guys. that's huge. i've said this a million times, but after such a long time of not making blog posts.. i want to open with that :) THANK YOU. reading this. i appreciate it from the bottom of my south african heart.

ok, now some COOL news! :)
new series yooooooooooooooo! i am SO stoked, you guys dont even understand! i think it's because i haven't recorded in such a long time, but i can't remember that i've ever been this excited to record a new series. got SUCH a cool set-list.. stuff ranging from gut wrenching heavy metal (double bass yo..going to try my best.) to some epic anthems that will probably have me screaming into the mics, to the now mandatory 90's hit :) seriously so incredibly excited to record. the reason why i haven't recorded yet (if it was up to me it would have been launched LOOONG ago, very early January) is because i'm struggling to get a spot to record at church. you guys know i record at the church where i also play drums for the band, well, it seems it's SUPER busy now. like stuff going on ALL the time, so i can't get a 3-4 day gap so i can set up and record the new series :( i MIGHT have a chance in about a week and a half.. but i'll keep you guys posted, just keep an eye on the facebook fanpage for updates. going top shoot a TON of behind the scenes stuff this time, so you guys can see where i've recorded every single series thus far :)

there are also some other big stuff on the way, endorsements, and a pretty big announcement.. will let you guys know when the time is right :)

i think that's all for now. expect a blog post every week from now on. saweeet, check you guys in the forums! maximum respect and MAXIMUM appreciation for all the support.

WHAT a past few days!
crazy.

for those who don't know, I'm down at SMG's headquarters in East London, South Africa. We're in the last stages of the DVD's production, working SO incredibly hard and putting in a TON of hours. It's 17:45 now and most of the offices are empty and the others have gone home, GUESS who's still working?! :) It's all good though, I'm in the groove over here, LOVING working here to finish the production up. Strangely enough I seem to work way more efficiently and creatively here. Might be because we're only a few kilometers from the beach :) Fo shizzle.

Aaaaah, almost forgot, NEW VLOG! :) check it outttttt yo:


As you guys will see the DVD will ship on the 11th of November. So, on that day, your DVD will make it's way to you, in whichever shipment method you chose :) The DVD is being replicated and shipped from the USA (as are the hoodies and shirts) so the Americans will probably have their copy before I have mine.. grrrr :)

Like I said, working harder than I EVER have, it's definitely hard times. Handling the production on a project this big has teally taken its toll on me, but I'm hanging in there :) The comments and messages keep me going. I know that sounds seriously corny :) but NOTHING motivates me more than reading some comments on YT or reading the messages you guys send and post on the Forum. Lately I've also definitely needed motivation, the weeks of work and sleep deprivation  is something I haven't experienced before.

That said, this journey is unbelievable. While I'm busy editing the documentary, I keep realising how insane this whole story has been :) It makes me MONSTER nervous to think I'm telling my life story, and putting it on a DVD for the world to see.. this isn't a made-up story, it isn't fiction, or a made-up and fake Hollywood story. It's my life, as it exists, and the thought of possibly SO many people getting a peek into that.. it only hit me a while ago :) You guys aren't strangers, I've come a VERY long way with some of you, which puts it in a different light. But I'm a pretty personal guy, and definitely equally nervous as I am excited for the release date :)

Back to work for me, going for a braai at Jason's house later on (a braai is the manly version of a Barbeque..) so looking super forward to that.

Hope you guys dug the VLOG :) I found it INCREDIBLY uncomfortable, makes me cringe just to think about it, haha.

SO stoked to record a new YouTube series after the DVD has been launched.. finishing one of those productions will be absolute CHILD's play after this monster project :)

ahooooooy people of internet land!

I am BEYOND tired. It's almost 6am in South Africa, and I was up all night finishing the next VLOG video. With that said, keep in mind that I'm functioning on half of my braincells.. and there wasn't a lot top begin with. So if some sentences make ZERO sense.. you know why :)

First things first! NEW VLOG! :)



The Video Response compo for Vlog #2 went insaaaaaaanely well! Can NOT believe the response, got some INSANE videos! Seriously struggling to choose a winner.. be sure to rate and comment on the ones you guys dig the most, that will obviously influence the choice of the winner in a huge way. I laughed SO hard at a few of those vids, haha :)

Other HUGE news, obviously, is that pre-orders are opening INSANELY soon, matter of hours left! :) Can NOT tell you guys how stoked I am. We've been working increeeeedibly hard on this project to give you the best and most comprehensive product possible, so I can. not. WAITTTT to see what the reaction is like. Be sure to keep an eye on the forums, as Jason will be creating an exclusive thread devoted to questions about ordering, payment, shipment.. all that stuff.

Also, as mentioned in Vlog III, actual RELEASE date for the DVD is going to be on the 29th of October, 2009. The reason for this sizeable gap, is because I still need to add the names of the first 200 buyers into the DVD's credits and in terms of footage aswell. We're also having the DVD replicated in the USA, so all shipments and distribution will happen from there. The DVD can be shipped to every country, on absolute international scale, except for Somalia. If you're from Somalia and you want to know why, find Jason's thread on the Forum and ask him :)

Be sure to keep an eye on the Live Counter.. next live show is the exact time of pre-orders opening, and in that Live Show we're also going to announce the winners of the compo! :) STOKEDDDDDDD. As mentioned in the DVD, there is already one "winner" of a seperate surprize.. check out the live show to see what she gets! Also make sure to check out Vlog III to see exactly what the heck I'm talking about.

Anyways, I'm off to bed.. Still a TON of work left on the DVD, and I need to get some sleep in so I can get back to it :)

booooooooya! :)

gonna keep this blog post short and sweet.. got a TONNN of work to get back to! but it's all good, definitely enjoying it.

anyways. i hope you guys are doing gooooood! i don't know if you heard the theories about today being the last day of the world? ie that today is like doomsday or something.. anyways. it's 15 minutes to 8 at night in SA, and we're still here. i guess it's already "tomorrow" in Australia, and they're still there. so nothing to worry about. just thought i'd set you guys at ease.

i've got some pretty big news! :) we're holding this way cool competition, and you can win a pair of sticks that i used while recording the DVD (with little dents and chips in them..) aswell as the snare skin from the recording of the MJ tribute series, yeah! check out the new VIDEO on YouTube for all the details, or just check it out below:
