when i left there in 2004 to go off to college i owned a really beat-down silver tama imperialstar kit and a zildjian planet Z cymbal set (ALL cracked) and when i started unpacking the kit i took down home for the holidays, i hit WAY hard that even though i left home owning that beat downnnn kit, i'm now back here, 5 years later, with a kit that has my name on. and the sickest cymbals. and the sickest hardware. UNREAL feeling, such a crazy thing to experience. trying my best not to end this like an after-school special.. but it goes to show what's possible if you do what you love, and if you do it passionately.

the second thing that hit me way hard, is that it's because of YOU guys checking out the videos.. rating, commenting, joining the fan page, asking questions on formspring (inbox is at 400+.. can NOT get it below 300, haha), bought DVD's, shirts, hoodies.. posted topics on the forums, send emails. YOU guys. that's huge. i've said this a million times, but after such a long time of not making blog posts.. i want to open with that :) THANK YOU. reading this. i appreciate it from the bottom of my south african heart.

new series yooooooooooooooo! i am SO stoked, you guys dont even understand! i think it's because i haven't recorded in such a long time, but i can't remember that i've ever been this excited to record a new series. got SUCH a cool set-list.. stuff ranging from gut wrenching heavy metal (double bass yo..going to try my best.) to some epic anthems that will probably have me screaming into the mics, to the now mandatory 90's hit :) seriously so incredibly excited to record. the reason why i haven't recorded yet (if it was up to me it would have been launched LOOONG ago, very early January) is because i'm struggling to get a spot to record at church. you guys know i record at the church where i also play drums for the band, well, it seems it's SUPER busy now. like stuff going on ALL the time, so i can't get a 3-4 day gap so i can set up and record the new series :( i MIGHT have a chance in about a week and a half.. but i'll keep you guys posted, just keep an eye on the facebook fanpage for updates. going top shoot a TON of behind the scenes stuff this time, so you guys can see where i've recorded every single series thus far :)

there are also some other big stuff on the way, endorsements, and a pretty big announcement.. will let you guys know when the time is right :)

I’ve also been quite busy on Twitter, between FaceBook and YouTube I\'ve now also become addicted to ANOTHER site :) you guys can follow me on there if you want: http://www.twitter.com/CobusPotgieter Aaaah also, almost forgot :) Jobeky drums (who are sponsoring my whole electronic set-up) will be part of a huge music festival in the UK from the 6th to the 8th of November. They have offered to fly me there to represent them, so I am beyoooond stoked; I’ve never flown out of South Africa :) Colin also had the idea of putting together a Jobeky-organised Drum Clinic which will be hosted by Louis-James Davis (from the band Outrage, also a session drummer; and fellow Jobeky endorsee) and me. You can\'t even imagine how excited I am to be a part of this, and to possibly actually MEET a few of you guys for the first time! FIRST DRUM CLINIC, yeah! We just need an idea about numbers, so the guys at Jobeky know what size of event to secure for the event; if you guys can just please head on to http://www.facebook.com/deedlebag and check out the discussion board, there will be a new post entitled "UK DRUM CLINIC 2009". If you can just post anything there (a simple "yes" will do) that will be much MUCH appreciated. The cost will be around £7 to £10 for the whole thing (just to cover the cost for the venue and such) and it at the moment Colin is looking at venues around Birmingham or Manchester; it\'s way close to a major airport so if any of you guys that are close want to fly in it will be very close to the venue as well. Anyways, I am crazily excited to be a part of this, can\'t even imagine how awesome it\'s going to be to jam a little with you guys. Haha I get all giddy just thinking about it. STOKED. The Jobeky kit was also shipped out today, so it will arrive shortly :) The DVD\'s schedule is going ahead at full speed; everything is falling awesomely into place. A few contests might also be launched around it, so if you want to win a drumstick used in the recording of a series, or the "Cheer up emo kid" shirt.. stick around ;) Will keep you guys posted!
